Welcome to Withrow Park! This is a fabulous park in Toronto. Hemmed in by Greektown/Danforth to the north, and the leftie-lovely Riverdale community on all other sides, Withrow is much loved by countless folks who live in the area.
Activities in Withrow:
Splash pad for young kids (summer)
2 play areas for kids (year-round)
Soccer, ball hockey, ice hockey (seasonal sports)
Tennis courts (year-round, weather permitting)
Off leash dog park, fenced, (year-round)
Farmer's Market (late May to last Sat. in Oct.)
Frisbee tossing, picnicking, kissing, etc.!
After visiting the park head up Logan a couple of blocks to the Danforth. There you'll find the bustling street life of Greektown. Grab some fruit, a gyro, an espresso, or a pint. A great scene all day and night, all year long.
Barnstokkr might remind you of the tale of King Arthur and Excalibur. J.R.R. Tolkien, an expert in Norse mythology, also knew of this tale, and may have drawn on it. Richard Wagner visits the tale in his epic opera "Der Ring des Nibelungen." So too William Morris. This pagan tale comes from Scandinavia and from German paganism, both of which celebrate a love of nature. Trees are especially venerated in pagan tradition. In that spirit, please respect this tree and all others.
The cache is shouldn't be too hard. Your prime concern is MUGGLES, thanks to the popularity of this park. Your only other concern might be a bit of mud and/or snow on a bit of a slope. The cache should be quite playable through all four seasons.
Special request from 9 year old co-owner: please leave mini-erasers here! Local kids are crazy about swapping these things.
Please remove and replace the cache carefully! Use the hook. Make sure it's nice and securely back on the hook, so that it doesn't drop into view. And remember: the true Sigmund succeeds not through angry strength, but through openness of heart and mind. Let kindness be your way.
