Geocache Description:

Join us along the Exposition Line Bike Corridor (between Jefferson-National) in Culver City from 10-11:30 AM on Saturday, April 22, 2017. It's Earth Day and the 15th Annual Cache In Trash Out (CITO) week, and volunteers will earn this year's CITO souvenir (and the 3M cache souvenir)! Our volunteer efforts for the morning will focus on trash removal as trash has accumulated along this relatively new path.

The CITO will start with a brief log signing and instruction session, and distribution of equipment. It will end with the obligatory group picture behind trash bags and disposal of trash. The day will end with lunch at one of the eateries on Helms Bakery (Father's Office or Let's Be Frank) for those who would like to join us.

Schedule
10 - 10:15 AM - Log signing, distribution of equipment & instructions
11:30 AM - Group photo at posted coordinates, raffle & disposal of trash
12 PM - OPTIONAL lunch at Helms Bakery (Walk/drive)

Free parking can be found at Syd Kronenthal (formerly McManus) Park at 3459 McManus Ave, Culver City, California 90232 and residential streets along the bike path (Fay, Cattaraugus, Sherbourne, Caroline and Helms). The park has bike racks and the area is serviced by the Expo Line (Jefferson/La Cienega or Culver City stations). Meet at the posted coordinates (picnic table in the southwest corner of the park near Fay Avenue) before entering the bike path. Towards the end of the event, regroup at the posted coordinates.

Trash bags, plastic gloves, a small first aid kit, sunblock and wet wipes will be provided. Additional plastic buckets, trash bags, grabber TOTTs, heavy duty work gloves and safety vests, and volunteers to take a trash bag home with them are welcomed. Please remember to wear closed-toed shoes (safety shoes are great!) for your protection.

Minors must be accompanied by parents and we do not recommend that young children participate due to potential hazards involved with picking up trash. If passersby ask what we are doing, remind them that it is Earth Day and we are cleaning the community with our local geocaching group.
