This cache is an easy 1 mile (each way) walk on a well maintained trail. The coordinates given are for the first of four stages.

You need to find the values of A-H at three stages along the way.
Stage 1:
N 40 12.215 W 088 23.716
Look for Blue Star Memorial By-Way plaque.
A = the number of district mentioned on the plaque.
B = the number of lines of text on the plaque.
Stage 2:
N 40 12.x W 088 23.9y
x is a three-digit number = A*B*(B-1)
y is a two digit number = B^2-1
Look for a trail marker. C is the one-digit number on it.
Stage 3:
N 40 12 0A1 W088 24.0CC
At this coordinates you will find a red object. On the top of the object you will find three digits in an oval above famous physicist's first name.
D = the first of the three digits.
E = the second digit + 1.
On the side of the object you will find a year 1FF5. This
gives you the value of F. Below there is a one-digit number. This is G. Below that is a three-digit number in a verical oval. The first digit is H.
