This cache was placed to replace the first cache I found (Double
Dam GC12P7N) that has now been archived. The location is family
friendly so I thought it would be worth placing a new cache. The
name for the cache was inspired by the Geocoin Puddle Duck
(TB2BNDY) originally placed in the cache.
Bring along the family including the geodogs. Facilities
available here include a free gas BBQ (make sure you bring
something to clean it with prior to use), a play ground, tennis
courts, and a football field so why not make a day of it. Don’t
forget the bats, balls and racquets for a game of cricket or
tennis, a footy for a game of kick-to-kick or touch, and toy boats
if you have them to sail on the pond, providing it has water in it.
Note, you are not allowed to swim, dive or wade in the pond and
don’t drink the water from it. You can also feed the ducks while
you’re here or just have a lazy walk with the geodogs, although
please respect the requirement to keep dogs off the sports field
playing surface and to pick up their no 2s.
The only disappointing thing about this location is that there
are no public toilets or shade structures in the vicinity.
This is a four leg multi cache with all waypoints and GZ within
the confines of the reserve. It involves simple counting and math
skills (counting up to 99 and addition and subtraction of two digit
numbers).
START
At the starting coordinates you will need to gather the
following information:
The 5 digit number of the light pole. Add the digits in the pole
number to get A e.g. if the pole number is 98976 then
A=9+8+9+7+6=39
Repeat this process on A and subsequent results until you have a
single digit number giving you B e.g. in the example 3+9=12,
1+2=3.
How many large bolts there are holding the nearby red water pipe
riser together gives you C
As you did for the light pole, add the digits in the phone
numbers for ‘Meetings and Functions’ and ‘Community Activities’ to
get two two digit numbers. Find the difference between these two
numbers to get D
To get to the first waypoint add (A+B+C) to the South
decimal minutes and add (A+D) to the East decimal minutes of
the start coordinates.
WAYPOINT 1
At the first waypoint gather the following information:
What year was the feature dedicated. Add the digits of the year
together to get E
The number of digits in the manufacturer’s phone number gives
you F
Add the digits of F together to get G
Add the two street numbers together to get H
The number of planks on the nearby table (including seats) gives
you I
To get to the second waypoint add (E+H) to the South
decimal minutes and subtract (F+I-G) from the East decimal
minutes of the first waypoint.
WAYPOINT 2
At the second waypoint gather the following information:
Count the number of treads. Add the digits of the number of
treads together to get J
Count the number of uprights supporting the handrails to get
K
Add the digits of K together to get L
To get to the third waypoint add L to the South decimal
minutes and subtract (J+K) from the East decimal minutes of
the second waypoint.
WAYPOINT 3
At the third waypoint gather the following information looking
at one side only:
Count the total number of letters to get M
The number of times the group of letters ‘ING’ appears gives you
N
The number of times the letter ‘N’ appears gives you
O
The number of letters on the fourth line gives you P
The number of letters on the sixth line gives you Q
The number of time the letter ‘K’ appears gives you R
To find the cache add (M-N-O-R) to the South decimal
minutes and subtract (P+Q) from the East decimal minutes of
the third waypoint.
Good luck and happy caching.
