A CACHE NÃO ESTÁ NO MURO!
O objectivo desta cache é conduzi-los através de um pequeno percurso por algumas ruas da Foz Velha, no Porto.
1. Igreja Matriz da Foz do Douro (N41º 08.923; W008º 40.109)
Este é o ponto de partida.
A construção da actual igreja matriz data do início do sec XVIII.
A igreja é dedicada a São João Baptista, cuja imagem se encontra num nicho na frontaria, sobre a porta principal.
Esse nicho é ladeado por outros dois, onde existiram outrora as imagens de São Bento e Santa Escolástica, mas que actualmente estão vazios.

2. Fonte dos Frades (N41º 08.954; W008º 40.118)
Era nesta fonte que durante várias décadas se abasteciam os habitantes da vizinhança.

3. Capela de Nª Sª da Conceição (N41º 09.098; W008º 40.134)
No trajecto para a capela, recomendamos que subam ao patamar (coordenadas N41º 09.990; W008º 40.142) e apreciem as vistas.
Desta capela, que inicialmente foi dedicada a S. Sebastião, desconhecem-se a data de construção e o autor, embora haja quem pense que poderá ter sido obra de Nicolau Nasoni ou de algum discípulo, dada o seu estilo barroco portuense.

This cache will guide you in a short walk through some streets of Foz Velha (Old Foz) in Oporto.
1. Igreja Matriz da Foz do Douro/Church (N41º 08.923; W008º 40.109)
This is the start point.
The church in honor of St John dates from the beginning of the 18th century.
An image of the saint stands in a niche on the façade over the main entrance.
A = year of the consecration of the church
2. Fonte dos Frades/Fountain (N41º 08.954; W008º 40.118)
This fountain supplied for decades drinkable water to the neighbors.
B= year of the fountain’s construction
3. Capela de Nª Sª da Conceição/Chapel (N41º 09.098; W008º 40.134)
Along the path to the chapel you will find a platform at coordinates N41º 09.990; W008º 40.142. From there you can enjoy a beautiful sight.
The date and author of this chapel are unknown, but one can think it could be a Nicolau Nasoni’s or one of his disciples’ work, regarding its baroque style that can be found in other buildings in Oporto.
