Ce matin d’hiver de l’année 2002, Sherlock Holmes III, arrière petit fils du célèbre détective privé, était assis dans son fauteuil favori, dans le salon de son appartement au 22a Rue des Boulangers à Strasbourg, en France. Il était absorbé par une lettre qui venait d’arriver.
Cela faisait plusieurs jours que le vol de la méthode de fabrication secrète que Jean-Paul Schmitt utilisait pour faire un des meilleurs Pinots Gris d’Alsace faisait la une des journaux. La lettre lui était parvenue anonymement sous forme d’une énigme diabolique et astucieuse qui indiquait où la recette volée était cachée.
Son ami le Dr. Watson restait perplexe face à cette énigme. Holmes, d’un air désabusé et un sourie ironique lui dit «Elémentaire mon cher Watson Elémentaire!». Et c’était le cas!

One winter’s morning in 2002, Sherlock Holmes III, grandson of the famous detective, was sitting in his favourite armchair in the living room of his apartment at 22a, Rue des Boulangers, Strasbourg, France. He was engrossed in reading a strange letter that had arrived that day by the morning post.
For days now, the local news had been dominated by the theft of the secret method used by Jean-Paul Schmitt for the production of arguably the best Pinot Gris wine of all Alsace. The letter from an unknown source informed Sherlock, in the form of a devilish and cunning code, where the stolen wine recipe had been hidden. His friend Dr.Watson was mystified by the code but Holmes III smiled wryly at Watson and exclaimed, “Elementary my dear Watson”. And it was!
