I used to live not far from here, and this was one of my favorite places. It can be windy or foggy or warm and sunny. On the rare clear day, when it’s not foggy, you can actually see the ocean.
The dates on the stones here reflect this area’s history. Populated in the 1850’s raising butter and eggs to send to San Francisco. Some lived to a venerable old age, and some died young . Look at the quality of the stones to see that there were prosperous and poor. There are remains of a few wooden markers, and several that were carved out of rough local stone. Three names caught my attention: Hitchcock, LaBaron, and Poe. Were they related to Alfred, Gaye, and Edgar?
This site may warrant a larger cache than the mint tin painted blue, but it was what I had with me. If someone wants to replace it with a larger container, just let me know and I will amend the description here.
