The Church
Cameford, St Thomas of Canterbury Church, is one of the newest churches in the Truro Diocese.
It was built in 1938 adjacent to the free car park at the northern end of the town. The parish church is at Lanteglos which is over two miles away and by the early 20th century, parishoners were reluctant to walk this distance to attend services. hence the building of the Church of Ease here in the town.
It is a comfotable and welcoming church which is decorated in warm colours.
It has an impressive organ and two very nice stained glass windows - the small one in the Lady Chapel is especially striking.
The church is active in the local community and supports an important local food bank initiative.
It is normally open during daylight hours and is worth a visit inside.
The Cache
The headline coordinates take you to the grassy area just in front of the church.
Here you will need to obtain the following information:
1. How many bells on the church roof = A
2. How many small crosses on top of the roof and bell tower = B
3. On the roadside perimeter, how many granite posts are there =CD
4. How many hinges in total on the outer pair of doors = E
CHECKSUM for these numbers = 10
The cache can be found at N 50 37.(B+E)(A+E)(E+C) W 004 40.(E+A)(3*(C+D))(A+B)
Please be stealthy at the GZ and Bring Your Own Pen (BYOP)
The cache is a small tube about 10 cms long and 3 cms in diameter.
It is a 400 m walk from the church along a footpath and then along a minor road. It is also possible to drive to the cache but the GZ does not have a good parking place nearby.
