Located in the town of Oakland, the main branch of the Ruth Enlow Library serves as a hub of activity within the community. Residents and visitors come to the library for print, non-print, and electronic resources. The library offers books, magazines, videos, DVDs, books on tape and on CD, wireless internet, and online databases. Ten computers are available for public use, with Internet access and word processing software. So stay a few extra minutes and log this one instantly! Another computer with adaptive technologies for disabled users is also available, as well as two children’s computers and one for teens equipped with games.

The Oakland Library has a genealogy section equipped with a digital microfilm reader/printer and a collection of local newspapers on microfilm, as well as a part-time genealogy specialist to assist patrons with research.

Started in 1915 by the Oakland Civic Club, the main library in Oakland was housed in several locations until its current building was completed in 1950. Originally known as the Oakland Free Public Library, its name was changed to the Ruth Enlow Library in memory of Ruth Enlow, whose father was a major benefactor of the new library.

The Town of Oakland thanks you for visiting!

Thanks to Deep Creek Local for helping with this hide!

Thanks to the Calvertcachers, Snurt, and the Maryland Geocaching Society for assisting with this project!
