Geocache Description:

* 2017?? You're not confused and we didn't make a typo! The sixth edition of the event we have previously titled "The Caching Conundrum Playoffs" follows the 2017 puzzling season. Due to conflicts with dates and our amazing venue, we had to push the 2017 event to March 2018. In an effort to open the vaults of puzzle glory to the caching community beyond the Columbus-area and/or Ohio, we're inviting people from all over the country or world to join us in an attempt to be crowned the Geocaching Puzzle Champion!

March 18, 2018
The Ohio State University Student Union
Senate Chamber
9am - 9pm(???)

Welcome to the 2017 Geocaching Puzzle Championships (aka Caching Conundrum End-of-Year Playoff Blowout Celebration)! Sponsored and hosted by Central Ohio Geocaching , The Ohio State University Geocaching Club, and The Caching Conundrum, join us as we crown the Master of Mysteries for the year of 2017.

Each month The Caching Conundrum features a different type of puzzle; competitors have been battling for months to gain points in the yearly standings. Now that the 2017 regular season is over, it's time for the points to pay off! This event will feature a playoff system to determine the 2017 Champion.

Haven't participated all year? Not a problem! The Championships are open to all cachers, even if you won't be playing. If you do want to participate, but haven't attended the monthly events, you're also in luck, as the Playoffs are open to all competitors! But if you have absolutely zero interest in the puzzling portion, this event will be a great meet-and-greet and also a spectator extravaganza! We invite those who have come all year and those who have not stepped foot in a Conundrum once.

Here's how the Championships will work:

* Puzzlers who have earned points throughout the year will gain seeding and benefits based on their finish in the year-end table.

* If a ranked player cannot attend the Finals, his or her spot will then be granted to the next player on the list. In other words, seedings on the day of the event will be determined by the ranked players who show up, not on the definite spot on the year-end list.

* Competitors who show up on March 18 who have not played during the year can still join the Playoffs as at-large entrants.

What will the puzzling format be?

It's a surprise! Come on, you didn't think we'd give it away that easily, did you?

At this point we are looking to give away prizes to the Top 10 players, but prizes will likely extend to the last chance qualifiers as well.

We will also be giving away random prizes to all people present!

** In addition to the main draw, which will determine the overall champion, be on the lookout for stand-alone competitions throughout the day!

Please check back to this page for additional information about the event between now and March 18.

Get ready for the Blowout!
