Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Girl Scout Shortbread Cache page. The owners of the property have a few requests. One is that you please don't go into the building to use the bathroom or ask the staff any questions, so everyone can do there work efficently. Thank you!

Hello! Welcome to the Shortbread cache of the The Girl Scout cookie Series. This cache is placed on the property of the Marion Chester Reed center. The Marion Chester Reed center is home to multiple offices, meeting rooms, and of course, the Girl Scout store. I made this series as part of my Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest award a Cadette Girl Scout can earn. I decided to include geocaching because of my passion for the outdoors and of course, geocaching! The Shortbread cookie and Girl Scouting as a whole is full of rich history. As you may know, Girl Scouting was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah, Georgia on March 12, 1912. In Savannah, you can take a tour of Juliette's house. You can also take a tour at the first official Girl Scout Headquarters and of the Andrew Low house, where Juliette died. Also, the Shortbread cookie was the first official Girl Scout cookie .Since 1912, the Girl Scouts have extended their variety of cookies to 9+ different varieties. For more information on Girl Scouting and Girl Scout cookies, you can go to www.gswise.org   Also, please be respectful of the people around you and be sure to put the cache back where it was. Here is some information about the cookie this cache is named for. The Shortbread cookie is a basic sugar cookie. One cool fact about the Shortbread cookie is that their have only been two modifications on it in response to Girl Scout Logo changes. This cookie is also known as the Trefoil cookie.  Please make sure to check out the rest of my series in Mequon, Wisconsin. Thank you!

This cache was placed with permission from Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Southeast. The FTF goes to Luvcampen. Thank you and happy caching.
