Geocache Description:

The hide is in Seahurst Park.

My daughter Melissa was playing with 2 friends, Hanna and Heidi in a greenbelt behind Heidi’s house. They were alongside a “ditch” as they called it and found a broken doll head. They picked it up and said it reminded them of Chuckie from the horror films of the 80’s. It had scraggly hair and was all beat up. When they tipped the head back the eye’s slowly opened and they said they kind of got creeped out. While they were looking at the head they didn’t see a rather large spider emerge from the hollow of the head. The spider made its way over the back of the head and came into view rather suddenly over the top of the doll’s head. Well you can imagine what happened next. The doll’s head went one way and the 3 girls departed rapidly in the other accompanied no doubt by the screams only 12-year-old girl’s can emit. They forever named the place Dead Doll Ditch. My daughter Melissa and her friend Heidi were instrumental in placing this cache.

The cache is not actually IN Dead Doll Ditch as access to the ditch is closed to the public. The cache is; however, in fairly close proximity and a tribute to a tale the girls will remember the rest of their lives.

This is a 5-stage multi with a fair amount of elevation change. Up to a gallon of water will be needed at some point during the hunt. No need to bushwhack, all hides are within 1 giant step of a trail except #2. Stage caches range in size from Micro to Decon to, shall we say, unusual. The GPS Gods do NOT smile upon this place. Reception at some of the waypoints is spotty at best. (Hence the 3.5 rating.) I took over 750 readings with a GPSMAP 76CS and Etrex Yellow over the course of 5 weeks to get them as close as I could. There are FTF prizes at all stages.

This is not one to do in shorts and a T-shirt. As with all temperate forested areas around here stinging nettles abound. The caches have been carefully placed to avoid this pest but exposure along the trails is unavoidable. The cache is stuffed with all the Geocoins I could find in a short period of time.

WPT#2 is causing difficulty due to impossible sattelites at this time. (Averaging almost 100 feet to the ENE.)

I'll offer the following:

You do NOT repeat NOT need to bushwack #2. The location is clearly visible from the main trail. There are NO nettles from the main path to the cache location.
