The Church
Maryfield Church is dedicated to St Philip and St James - it was built in Victorian times - in the 1860's
It was the church used by local landowners around the hamlet of Maryfield and by the Antony Estate as a chapel/church of ease before Torpoint became a major town.
The Parish Church would have been the one at Antony originally.
The lovely church has a distinctive tower and spire and is set in a delightful garden area adjacent to the Antony Estate. There are numerous footpaths near the church which probably indicate the various directions that worshippers arrived from.
The Cache
The headline coordinates take you to the entrance to the church.
To the left of the entrance to the church itself is a seat dedicated to Winifred Jean Wiltshire.
Under her name are two dates ABCD - CEAF
The cache can be found a short distance away at N 50 CF.E (A+F)(C+C) W 004 AF.ECB
The cache is a small click lock box with a 35mm film pot inside. There is room for small Travel Bugs.
Parking is available at the church - please see the waypoints provided together with the waypoint for the entrance to the lane down to the car park and the church. This lane entrance is easy to miss - there is a sign on the opposite side of the main road which says "Maryfield Church"
Please note, the main road is usually busy and the turning is narrow and sharp - please take care.
