Geocache Description:

This is our first placement of a geocache. Placed in the centre of the busy town of Ashburton. Although there is a pay and display car park very nearby, often it is full during the day. Easily accessable from the pavement. Please replace carefully. The permission for the placement of this cache was kindly given by the town clerks office.

Ashburton Town Hall was built in 1850 by Lord Clinton to replace the 300 year old original wooden market hall. (a fantastic scale model of which can be found at Ashburton Museum).

These days the town hall houses the Town Clerk's office, council meeting rooms and two large function rooms. It has several notice boards outside.
