Geocache Description:

Whendi chose the name Can't Find Diddly when she started geocaching in May 2006, thinking she might not be very good at this.  A year and a half later in Sept 2007, she met me (eltee1) at the annual NYCRG Picnic Event and she had 600 finds already.  We would be married in Nov 2008 and found nearly all of our next 10,000 geocaches together.   She tragically passed away unexpectedly on 14 Oct 2017 at the early age of 46 and leaving a hole in the lives of her family, friends and geocaching community.

Whendi had many interests and passions in life beyond her family and friends that were at the top of the list.  Her obsessive hobbies however included; Geocaching of course, Owls, collecting PEZ Dispensers (several thousand), collecting Crushed Pennies, creating crafts of all sorts, SciFi (books and movies) with Star Trek being chief among them. She also loved travel and photography and we would often combine as many of both of our interests into our many trips and adventures both domestically and internationally.

Whendi only had a couple requests of me in case anything ever happened and she passed away before me....she wanted a geocache placed inside her gravestone somehow and she wanted a tree and owl in the design.  So with no small amount of difficulty, I did my best to accomodate those wishes of hers.

The cache is secured in a locked compartment in the rear of the large monuments that has a tree and owl just behind her individual headstone that I tried to include some of her other passions into.  The key to the locked compartment is hidden in a magnetic hide-a-key under the stone bench on the plot.  Please return the key to its hide once you are finished with the cache and have resecured it.  Inside the cache container (an ammo can) you will find a bag with the leather owl logbook that has some photos and memorabilia inside the front and rear covers, and a photo book from some of Whendi's adventures.  Those must stay with the cache!   In a seperate bag, is trade SWAG that is themed for items Whendi enjoyed...many of which belonged to her.  I will attempt to maintain that for as long as I can but these are the only items that should be removed from the cache.  Feel free to Discover her Geocaching trackable name tag glued to the outside of the ammo can too.  I'd love to read logs with memories you all have of fun times with Whendi (Can't Find Diddly).

Please be respectful of the rest of the plot and other graves nearby.  Nothing should be removed or messed with on any grave.  Permission has been granted by Oakwood Cemetery to allow this cache, but be advised, hidden cameras are placed all around this cemetery and violators of the law and common sense and decency will be prosecuted.

Enjoy your visit to this historic cemetery and take the time to explore its miles of winding paths and amazing stone monuments.  This cemetery is home to Uncle Sam as well as many other notable figures from local and national history.  It has several ponds, waterfalls and much scenic beauty with an awesome overlook of the Capital District.  It was a place Whendi and I enjoyed exploring and we both felt peaceful here.  I hope you feel that peace when you pay your respects to my lost soul mate.
