Poison Ivy & mosquito alert! Be sure to dress appropriately for bugs and poison ivy during the warmer months. This family friendly cache is located in a city park on the site of a former Nike Missile Site. You are visiting one of Waukesha's contributions to the Cold War. The site was one of nearly a dozen that defnded the City of Milwaukee as well as most major cities throughout the United States, from possible air attacks from the USSR.
The cache is an ammo box containing numerous items, some of which pertain to "defense." Park near a small monument that gives details about the site (N43 01.416, W088 11.443). I have uploaded photos (courtesy Waukesha Freeman) showing the site during its operational days during the late 1950's and early 1960's.
