The Illawarra Upper Escarpment Trail - #08
This walking track begins at the top of Mount Ousley Road (Princes Motorway) and continues through the forest at the top of the escarpment. Along the track there are many viewpoints, the best of which is at Broker's Nose. While on the track keep an eye out for Koalas, while placing these caches and on subsequent checks, snorris and I have been able to smell their presence but have not seen any.
This trail is made up of 17 caches, most of which are small system containers, though some are not, all containing a minimum of a logbook and a pencil. Please be aware that as this trail runs along the upper escarpment there are some points quite close to the edge. Parts of the track are also used by mountain bikers and dirt bikers, so be careful and keep an ear out.
For the fit and super keen, the trail should take about 2 hours for the round trip. A more reasonable time frame for the rest of us would be 3 hours, this will allow you to stop and enjoy the scenery and catch your breath, perhaps even have some lunch at one of the viewpoints.
