This cache was formerly named 'cous-cous lentil curry'. Good year-round family cache on Lummi Island.
On Easter Sunday, 2006, we released into the wild a cottontail bunny that we raised from a baby. His name is Benji, and he lives out here now. Welcome to Benji's Place.
Take a 20 minute drive West from Bellingham to Gooseberry Point. (Follow Lummi Shore Rd. for the scenic route.)
From Gooseberry Point, take the ferry to Lummi Island. Cost is $13 round-trip for car/driver, and additional $7 per passenger over 19 yrs. old. Ferry runs from 6am to Midnight every day.
Alternatively, park your car at Gooseberry, and walk-on the ferry with your bicycles. Cache is approximately 4 miles by road from the ferry dock.
Once on the island, take a right on N. Nugent Rd. and head Northwest.
At the extreme North tip of the island, the road bends left and becomes West Shore Drive.
Follow along for another 1/2 mile or so, and turn left on Melcher Ave.
Go up the hill and take a left on Taft Dr.
Go up the next hill and take a right on Island View Ln. (Nice view, eh?)
Follow along to Blizard Rd.
If your car has low clearance (or you'd rather walk the remaining 1/2 mile) park here. This is parking option #1 (P1), and the coordinates are:
N 48° 43.948
W 122° 42.975
From P1 go East on Blizard Rd. to the second parking option (P2) at the following coordinates:
N 48° 43.952
W 122° 42.695
You should have good GPS reception here... so have at it!!
Land owner has given permission, and you are not trespassing.
Cache is a plastic nut container from Costco...
***Important Update*** Cache has been relocated 50 to 100 ft. south of original location due to dramatic changes at the original hiding spot. Hint still applies...
