Geocache Description:

This cache is part of the "Corporate Ca$he - Monopoly Challenge!", in which information needs to be obtained from every cache container before being able to surmise the coordinates for the final stash. Each cache is located within an area of White Plains that is a cluster of corporate offices for a wide variety of companies. After being relocated from upstate New York to one of these offices in June 2010, I realized that although I am surrounded by corporate America life every weekday, the back woods still burn strong inside of me. As a result, this series combines the two, and is designed to take you on a journey that shows the corporate world in a different light.

If you know your Monopoly history you'll recognize the Jersey Central and Seashore Lines as 2 names that did not make the cut for the game. Reading and Pennsylvania, however, were the lucky ones. Those were the 4 active rail lines through Atlantic City in the 1930's. The B&O did not serve Atlantic City and the "Short Line" was actually called the "Shore Fast Line" that wasn't made up of trains but streetcars.

If you know your Westchester Railroad history you'll also be familiar with the defunct NYW&B that used to run through here, exactly where you're standing at GZ. Active from 1912-1937 and long-forgotten these days, the New York, Westchester & Boston Railway was a symbol of suburban growth from urban centers, however it caused more financial trouble than prosperity from its planning stages and construction right through to the bitter end of the Great Depression. A detailed write-up (with pictures) on this railway can be found here: www.nywbry.com

Can you imagine a railroad running from the Bronx right up Bloomingdale through the Westchester Mall, crossing Westchester Avenue and continuing north through the county before turning east and linking passengers to Boston?

This cache is an urban grab with muggles galore and a lack of places to park. Try a nearby convenience store, I think it's your best bet, although that's entirely up to you (just don't park at the diner please). When at the cache itself remember to note the $$$ you find under the container lid before you leave, and I hope you enjoy the game.
