Geocache Description:





Südwestlich vom Dörflein Trafoi liegt in stiller Einsamkeit ein vielbesuchtes Wallfahrtskirchlein. Neben demselben befinden sich die Mauerreste einer ehemaligen Einsiedlerhütte, in deren Nähe drei Statuen den Heiland, seine heilige Mutter und den heiligen Johannes darstellen. Durch ihre Brust führt je eine Eisenröhre, die frisches Quellwasser in ein Becken ergießen. Von diesen drei Quellen heißt der Wallfahrtsort "Zu den heiligen drei Brunnen" und das Tal "Trafoi".

Legende:

Ein Geistlicher brachte den Andachtsgegenstand aus S. Maria bei Münster in der Schweiz und befestigte ihn auf einer Tanne. Dort wurde er aber vergessen, und als eines Tages ein Holzhacker seine Axt in die Tanne einschlug, hörte er plötzlich aus den Zweigen eine Stimme: "Hack nur zu, doch hack mich nicht!" Als er erstaunt aufblickte, sah er oben in den Ästen die Marienst. Nun wurde ihr eine Kapelle errichtet, angeblich 1229. In diesem Jahr nun war ein frommer Hirte mit Namen Moritz Augenzeuge, wie auf einmal vor ihm aus der Felswand eine dreifache Quelle hervorsprudelte, die in jedem Strahl ein Kreuz mit sich führt". Hastig griff er nach diesen Kreuzen und beschloß, eines davon der St. Ulrichskirche nach Stilfs zu verehren und das andere nach Münster, das dritte aber entfiel seinen Händen, während er nachsann, wohin er es spenden sollte, und verschwand im Wasser.

Hintergrundinformation aus volkskundlicher Sicht:

Heilquelle, die in besonderer Kapelle entspringt und aus drei Brunnenröhren rinnt, die in die Brust der Statuen von Jesus, Maria und Johannes eingesetzt sind. Besonders bei Wetterschaden, Augen- und Frauenleiden aufgesucht. Das Wasser wirkt nur heilwirkend, wenn man aus allen drei Brunnen trinkt.

Da Trafoi è possibile raggiungere comodamente a piedi o in macchina (attraverso una stradina di 2 chilometri) l'antico santuario delle Tre Fontane Sacre, a 1.607 m di altitudine.
