Il Museo dell’occhiale di Pieve di Cadore rappresenta una prestigiosa realtà, tra le più importanti a livello mondiale, dedicata al tema dell’occhialeria, attività sviluppatasi in maniera capillare in tutto il Cadore a partire dalla fine dell’Ottocento. Creato in concomitanza dei Giochi Olimpici Invernali di Cortina del 1956, il museo vede la sua origine nella mostra realizzata dal medico Enrico De Lotto proprio in quell’anno.
A partire dal 2007 il museo ha subito un restyling: la sua sede è stata infatti trasferita nei pressi della Casa natale di Tiziano Vecellio all’interno di una struttura modernissima e il nuovo percorso museale è più articolato. Il museo si presenta su due piani e ripercorre, in ordine cronologico, l’evoluzione dell’affascinante macrocosmo dell’occhiale.
La mostra espone uno studio sullo sviluppo del concetto dell’occhiale e della vista attraverso le fotografie di volti e l’interessante opera cinetica di Davide Boriani, ma anche sull’aspetto scientifico e tecnologico dell’occhialeria. Un’interessante sezione dell’esposizione è stata dedicata all’astuccio per gli occhiali, inteso non solo come contenitore ma anche come accessorio: a questo proposito non mancano astucci in madreperla piuttosto che in argento o addirittura in oro. La mostra attraversa anche il mondo dell’arte: è possibile osservare infatti anche ”Autoritratto con occhiali gialli”, opera di Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Al piano superiore una sezione è stata interamente dedicata alla storia del territorio e dell’occhialeria Cadorina. Una mola da arrotino e gli strumenti di un petenèr ambulante ricordano al visitatore che l’apertura del primo opificio dedicato all’occhiale, nel 1878, è stata resa possibile grazie all’intervento di Angelo Frescura (venditore ambulante) e Giovanni Lozza (arrotino). L’esposizione prosegue poi con immagini fotografiche, documenti e strumenti d’epoca che narrano le fasi produttive dell’occhiale e un’area multimediale dove alcuni filmati illustrano le tecniche di lavorazione artigianale.

The Eyewear Museum in Pieve di Cadore, among the most important in the world, is dedicated to the theme of eyewear, which widely developed in Cadore from the late nineteenth century. Created in 1956, during the Olympic Winter Games in Cortina, the museum originated form the exhibition organized by the physician Enrico De Lotto in that year.
Since 2007 the museum has undergone a makeover: its headquarters was in fact transferred near the Birthplace of Tiziano Vecellio inside a modern structure and the new museum is more articulate. The museum is on two floors and retraces, in chronological order, the evolution of the fascinating eyewear macrocosm.
The exhibition presents a study on the development of the concept of eyewear and vision through the photographs of faces and the interesting kinetic work of David Boriani, but also the appearance of science and technology eyewear. An interesting section of the exhibition is dedicated to the eye glasses case, which is not only as a container but also an accessory: in this regard are not lacking mother of pearl rather than silver or even gold boxes. The show also runs through the world of art: it is possible to see also "Self-portrait with yellow glasses" by Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Upstairs there is a section entirely dedicated to the area's history and the eyewear in Cadore. A grinding wheel by knife-grinder and tools of a walking petenèr remind the visitor that the opening of the first factory dedicated to eyewear, in 1878, was made possible thanks to the intervention of Angelo Frescura (street vendor) and Giovanni Lozza (grinder). The exhibition continues with photographs, historical documents and tools that tell the production phases of eyewears and a multimedia area where some films illustrate the techniques of craftsmanship.

Dieser Geocache gehört zu den 9 Geocaches des GeoTrail Cadore. Für diejenigen, die den ganzen GeoTrail absolvieren, gibt es einen Geocoin als Geschenk!
Der Cache befindet sich nicht an den oben angegebenen Koordinaten; um den Geocache bergen zu können, muss man die Hinweise im Brillenmuseum finden und die Koordinaten berechnen! Weiter unten findet ihr die entsprechenden Details.
Das Brillenmuseum in Pieve di Cadore stellt eine prestigeträchtige Realität dar, eine der wichtigsten der Welt, die dem Thema Brillen gewidmet ist, einer Aktivität, die sich seit dem Ende des neunzehnten Jahrhunderts im gesamten Cadore weit verbreitet hat. Das Museum wurde 1956 anlässlich der Olympischen Winterspiele in Cortina gegründet. Die Ursprünge des Museums sind in der Ausstellung zu sehen, die der Arzt Enrico De Lotto im selben Jahr schuf.
Seit 2007 hat das Museum eine Neugestaltung erfahren: Sein Sitz wurde in die Nähe des Geburtshauses von Tiziano Vecellio in eine sehr moderne Struktur verlegt, und der neue Museumsrundgang ist klarer gegliedert. Das Museum erstreckt sich über zwei Etagen und zeichnet in chronologischer Reihenfolge die Entwicklung des faszinierenden Makrokosmos der Brillenherstellung nach.
Die Ausstellung zeigt eine Studie über die Entwicklung des Konzepts der Brille und des Sehens anhand von Fotografien von Gesichtern und die interessante kinetische Arbeit von Davide Boriani, aber auch über den wissenschaftlichen und technologischen Aspekt von Brillen. Ein interessanter Teil der Ausstellung ist dem Brillenetui gewidmet, das nicht nur als Behältnis, sondern auch als Accessoire gedacht ist: An Etuis aus Perlmutt sowie aus Silber oder gar Gold mangelt es in dieser Hinsicht nicht. Die Ausstellung durchquert auch die Welt der Kunst: Es ist auch möglich, das "Selbstbildnis mit gelber Brille" von Michelangelo Pistoletto zu betrachten.
Im Obergeschoss ist eine Abteilung ganz der Geschichte des Territoriums und den Brillen von Cadorina gewidmet. Die Schleifscheibe eines Schleifers und die Werkzeuge eines Straßenhändlers erinnern den Besucher daran, dass die Eröffnung der ersten Brillenfabrik 1878 dank der Intervention von Angelo Frescura (Straßenhändler) und Giovanni Lozza (Schleifer) möglich wurde. Die Ausstellung wird mit Bildern, Dokumenten und historischen Instrumenten fortgesetzt, die die Produktionsphasen von Brillen erzählen, sowie mit einem Multimedia-Bereich, in dem einige Filme die Techniken des Handwerks veranschaulichen.
