Geocache Description:

The cache will now withstand every thinkable weather condition it may be subjected to. And it should be 100% able to log at any time as soon as you've reached the coordinates.

( Legal or not?) The cache is now supplemented with a winter log attached to the trunk of the tree some 170 cm above the ark. The coordinates will be the same.

I apologize for all the tests I've put you to, inconveniences and disappointments I've caused you by not foreseeing extreme weather conditions.

Hungergrynnan – ‘Hun’gergrynnon’

Some fifty years ago this little island used be a reef with just two or three stones pointing up above the water surface. When I first visited this area 19 years ago there were hardly any vegetation on this island except some very tiny windswept bushes. Now there are alders, spruces and birches. The name ‘Hun’gergynnon’(Ostrobothnian provincial Swedish, means The reef of hunger) refers to that this place was really good for fishing(and still is), the kids in Petsmo used to say that the perches were always hungry there.
This place is a part of The Kvarken area (visit link) The land is ‘rapidly lifting up from the sea. Or as Wikipedia put it: The land “it is continuously rising from the sea in a process of rapid glacio-isostatic uplift, whereby the land, previously weighed down under the weight of a glacier, lifts at rates that are among the highest in the world. As a consequence of the advancing shoreline, islands appear and unite, peninsulas expand”.

The cache is a rather big ark or coffin (size 4)… it contains a plastic jar(size 2) big enough for trade able items and of course a logbook and a pencil.

PLEASE, put at least to stones on top of the lid when you leave the place!

It’s often reachable on ice in the middle of winter. But be careful! Make sure that the ice is thick enough. A cache is NOT worth dying for.
