Geocache Description:

Located near the Obelisk close to Delaval Hall. Can be approached from a number of directions but will all involve a walk of a mile or so. Footpaths can be quite muddy.

The cache container is a medium sized plastic click-lock tub. It is large enough for a number of small items and trackables.

Within the container is a disposable camera (last replaced 3/5/2017) where finders of the cache are invited to take a picture then return it to the cache. Once the camera is full it will be retrieved, the photos developed then scanned and added to the gallery. A log entry or an email alerting us to a full camera would be appreciated so it can be retrieved and replaced.

It is said that the obelisk marks the spot where Admiral George Delaval died. He was thrown from his horse marked by another obelisk (only the stump remains). There is also a cache at this spot, 'Death of an Admiral' GC2201J. He was dragged along by his horse after his foot was caught in the stirrup.
