Tourism is the 3rd worlds largest industry with more than 275 millions employees, and stands for about 10% of the worlds GDP. Last year 1,2 billion travellers crossed international borders.
Which is why the World Tourism day was introduced 1980 by the United Nations.
The purpose of the World Tourism day is to raise awareness of the role tourism play, and to highlight how it affects social, political, economical and cultural values worldwide.
