Parallel Maynard, Washington |
|
Maynard (originally Junction City) is an old mill
community along US 101. The name "Maynard" appears to be that of
Sidney P. Maynard (1861 - 1916) and Henrietta Maynard (1860 - 1929)
who are buried just a short distance from the cache at Maynard
Cemetery. Home of the
Discovery Bay Cemetery Cache.
The Maynard mill was in operation until the
1970s.
The abandoned sawmill was a popular sight for
tourists, and appears in many nostalgic area photographs and
paintings. |
