Starlite came up with an idea of a series to do with Fire Stations, though I'm not sure if this is because she admires the great work the fire services do, because she likes driving fire engines (The background is actually her driving one!) or if it is because she likes blowing kisses at every fire station & fire engine that she sees!! So as part her birthday surprise I have got together with a couple of local cachers and started the series for her.
Carlton Fire Station is a community fire station built for Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue. It provides administration, support and practical storage of fire fighting equipment, in addition to training facilities.
The station underwent BREEAM certification as part of the Fire Service’s national policy for new fire stations, achieving an ‘Excellent’ rating at post-construction stage assessment.
There has been a fire station on this site for over 50 years. In 2011 it had a £2 million rebuild. Crews shared facilities with East Midlands Ambulance Service while the building was completed which took 11 months.
