The Old Salem Cemetery is one of the oldest Cemeteries in Moniteau County and has nearly 400 know burials. There are numerious unmarked burials or marked only with field stones or rocks. The earliest marked burial is Logan Jobe who died in 1846. There are three people with 1800 or earlier birth dates and eighteen more with pre 1821 birth dates. The Cemetery is located north of Califoria via of a couple of different roads for acccess. There should be plenty of parking along the gravel road. It is a small camoflaged container with a log only, so bring your own peincil. If large (or small) farm equipment comes by, give them room, please. Permission as been granted to place the cache.
