Cache is located on the new "Chain of the Lakes Trail" to draw attention to Halifax's newest walking trail.
The Chain of Lakes Trail runs along the former Canadian National Chester Spur Line and cuts right through Bayers Lake Park to connect with the Beechville-Lakeside-Timberlea (BLT) Trail in the Lakeside Industrial Park. The new eight-kilometre trail is partially paved and will be open to all non-motorized uses. Although motorized wheelchairs will be allowed, the new Chain of Lakes Trail Association has ruled out the use of ATVs and motorcycles on the trail. The first phase of construction began in July and wrapped up by October. Future phases will include the erection of signage and interpretive stations, plus possible bike lanes and racks, picnic areas and maybe an event stage. The trail, which will start on Joseph Howe Drive across from the Atlantic Superstore, is considered to be a missing piece in Halifax’s trail network. Chain of Lakes Trail
