Geocache Description:

“You, being a different olive branch, were grafted into the whole olive tree and became partaker with them of the rich root of the olive tree. Remember that it is not you who supports the root, but the root supports you.” – Romans 11:17-18, paraphrase

The title of this cache, "Grafted In 🌿", has several embedded meanings.
  1. Several years ago, Sage found a small evergreen branch growing where the main trunks of this maple tree split and created a hollow. The life of the evergreen branch was supported entirely by the presence of a different tree. (It wasn't technically "grafted", as it was living on the composting plant debris, or "mor layer", that had collected in the hollow.)
  2. Stitch was grafted into the family of Sage (and vice versa) through marriage at this church! As Stitch's new surname is etymologically associated with trees as well, the metaphor is even more appropriate. The GC code for this cache also bears testimony, as our "2 FAMZ" have now been joined.
  3. As described in the Bible verse above, Christians are metaphorically grafted into the Jewish nation, the family of those faithful to the one, true God. That's quite a family tree! My own family lived through the entire history of Evergreen from before the construction (1954) to the final worship service (Jan. 2016), and we celebrate being part of God's family.
For the First-To-Find (congrats to RebelGTP!), I've included 2 tickets to the Blackhawk Fire Department Annual Pancake Day. These tickets were donated by Chief T-dot himself! Feel free to thank him personally.

It's typically held the first Sunday of November from 7AM to 2PM, kitty-corner across the intersection at the school gymnasium at the Blackhawk Fire Department on South Main.
$5.00 donation suggested per adult
$3.00 for children 6 - 12 years
For children 5 years and under, former Chief T-dot suggests that they steal their free pancakes... ;-)

Bring your own writing utensil, as I forgot to plant one inside.
