Samuel and Mary: R.I.P. Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

BlueMoth: I came out to check on the cache with Dr.Safeway today. It was there, and not even really hidden. However, all things must end someday and today is the day I have decided to archive this cache and open the area for someone else to place something. Thanks to all who hunted out Samuel and Mary and Happy Caching.

Geocache Description:

In 1893, the land for Raffety Cemetery was given by Samuel Raffety, who rests here with his wife Mary. Samuel and Mary were Oregon pioneers who had an original land donation grant of 320 acres in North Plains.

If you like, take time to visit with the many North Plains pioneers who rest in this place. There are many beautiful headstones to view. Nothing need be disturbed in order to retrieve the cache.

The cemetery has no posted hours, the usual ones of dawn until dark should probably be observed. There is a gate from which you can unlatch a chain to open it. Make sure you shut it on the way down.

The road is to the left of the white house.

You will probably be greeted by a large white wolf looking dog who belongs to the white house. He is friendly and perfectly harmless. He might bark and chase your car up the road, but he just wants to play. He is also probably responsible for the destruction of the first two caches I had here, lol.

NB: As of 6/28/11 the cache has been changed from a small to somewhere between small and regular lock n lock. PLEASE make sure the sides are locked down tightly before replacing the cache exactly where you found it.

For the FTF there is a glass blue moth.

****Congratulations to EveryWhichWay for FTF****
