Geocache Description:

This cache is hidden in the United Church Cemetery in Island Brook.

It is a film canister wrapped camo duct tape. Please take your own pencil, and carefully replace the container as you found it.

This is the FIRST geocache placed in Island Brook, Quebec!

My mom's family grew up in Island Brook, and many of them still live in the area. This old church holds special meaning to my family. My Mom and Dad were married in this church back in the 1950's, and now my Dad, an infant sibling, my grandparents, and many other relatives are buried here in this cemetery.

My family moved to Ontario in the late 70's, and most of my best memories are from my years spent in the Eastern Townships (especially Eaton Corner, Sawyerville, Island Brook and Cookshire), so I just had to hide a cache here in my old stomping grounds.

Please walk softly, many of my friends and relatives are sleeping.

NOTE: Spring of 2017
it's a shame, but the old church building has been taken down and moved to another location to be rebuilt. The gentleman who bought the old church dismantled it board by board and numbered each piece so it could be rebuilt. If you take a good look in the area in front of and to the left of the entrance, you may find some old square nails which once held the old church together.
