CACHING 101 :
VOCABULARY QUIZ
Source Text: GeoLex – The Lexicon of Geocaching
Compiled by Prime Suspect
A test in three parts.
Part A: For each of 20 questions, the pupil is given the
number of characters in the answer, NOT INCLUDING SPACES OR
PUNCTUATION. Spaces and punctuation are ignored. All answers are
found in the GeoLex.
The sequence of numbers after each question lists the position in
the answer grid for each letter of the answer, in sequence. An “X”
in the sequence indicates that you skip the letter in this position
(don’t transfer it to the answer grid).
Example: One who participates in geocaching.
Answer: 6 characters.
23 – 55 – 58 – 100 – 5 – 36
If you determine that “CACHER” is the correct answer, then place
“C” in the 23rd position, “A” in the 55th position, etc. Then move
to the next question.
To give you a head-start, we’ve already filled-in some of the
spaces in the answer grid.
Part B: When you’ve completed the answer grid, you need to
decipher it. If you need help, a hint is available.
Part C: Lastly, a small amount of math is required to
calculate the degrees (NOT minutes) of latitude and longitude.
Good luck.
