Geocache Description:

A traditional cache hidden a short distance from Whippoorwill Road, just off U.S. Route 19, about 2 miles south of Summersville, WV.

This is a replacement for my old Whippoorwill Cache that was washed away in the epic flooding that occurred June 23-24, 2016. Unlike the old cache, this new hide is much higher above the normal elevation of Summersville Lake (less likely to be wiped out by flooding), and it is considerably easier to get to. In fact, it is almost a park & grab.

To get to the hiding place, from U.S. Route 19 turn onto Whippoorwill Road (inaccurately shown as Hilltop Drive on some mapping programs). If traveling north, this is a left-hand turn; if going south, turn right. Park along Whippoorwill Road and proceed on foot the few yards to ground zero. If you have time after finding this cache, drive on down .20 mile to the end of the road and check out the Hawks Nest Workers Memorial (there is another cache there, too).

The cache is a 1.3 liter snap-lock type container that holds a log book, pen, and several family-friendly trade items.
