Geocache Description:

Located in the east wing of Butterfly Valley. In the meadow .12 miles from parking, at about 3,300 foot elevation. Fairly level walk in the meadow with some marshy spots. Try to stay toward the center of the meadow till you get closer to the creek, because it is pretty marshy close to the bushes, and there is one spot you can sink waste deep in, so be careful.

Welcome to the Butterfly Valley California Geocache!

Butterfly Valley is a very beautiful peaceful place located in North Eastern California in Plumas County. There is a lot of history in this valley. A lot of mining went on here. There used to be a small log mill, a school, and even a whorehouse:-) All that is gone now, but the history of it lives on.

This geocache is located on the portion of Butterfly Valley that my family owns. We own about one half of the east wing, and we invite you to track this geocache down and visit the area around it. I'm confidant that you will keep in mind that it is our property, and that you will treat it with respect as if it were your own, and not leave any trash.

The geocach is about .12 miles from parking. Parking will be on the meadow side of the road just before you get to the end of the pavement, and you will see a row of mail boxes on your right. Please be careful driving on Butterfly Valley Road. It is quite narrow. So take your time, and go slow around the corners.

It's not too long of a walk, but in the winter time when there's not snow, there are a few wet marshy spots that you should be careful not to step in. Don't want wet shoes:-) Or in some, a whole wet lower body:-) Ha ha don't worry too much though. Another geocacher should come along and find you within a month or so.

I guess all I have left to say is, be sure to sign the Log when you find the cache, and feel free to take any of the trade goods in the box, but try to put something else in the box for everything you take.

You will have no problems finding this geocache. The main point is to give you an oportunity to visit a part of our wonderful property, sign the log, and trade little treasures.

Happy Geocaching!!!
