Thank you, Juliette Gordon Low for starting an organization that recognizes Girls and their accomplishments.
What happens when you take the Albemarle Council, Augusta - Rockingham Council, Central Virginia Council, Old Dominion Council, Piedmont Council and the Pulaski Council and put them together.
You get Virginia Skyline Council of Girl Scouts!
All this happened in 1963, but the above Councils were started between 1920 and 1947. By July 1963 the new Council was Incorporated and ready to start operations.
The first Council offices were located at 625 First St. S.W. Roanoke, today the Council offices are located where the cache is hidden.
Girl Scouts have had many changes through out the years but still focus on the most important item.... the GIRLS!
The Council changed its name to Girl Scout of Virginia Skyline Council to show they put Girls first.
Girl Scout cookies sold for .40 a box in 1964 today they are $3.50 a box.
This cache is part of the new technology that the Girl Scouts are embracing and encouraging girls and leaders to participate in.
Girl Scouts also practice in "Leave no Trace" and minimal impact when they are in the out of doors.
