Geocache Description:

Rødhus Kirke - Jyllands Kirker

a cache by Team Jakaa

Dansk – English below!

English - Dansk foroven!

Rødhus is the southern part of Hune parish in Vest Vendsyssel.
There are legends that Rødhus has had is own church in ancient times.
However, there is no trace of it, and nobody knows where it has lain. Around 1500 put sand drift in and 100 years later they gave up all living in Rødhus. As the trade deficit came in once, but it also has implications for Rødhus. In 1648 they constructed a granary - "Red House". The people lived on both fishing and agriculture - the latter only with great difficulty.

The current Rødhus church built in 1913. Church Ministry promised Rødhus recidents that would be put DKK 13,500 of the Finance Act, if the residents could gather 2,000 DKK It sounds a little bit, but was a huge amount of contemporary poor. Since the amount was collected, the ministry asked the DKK 13,500 available. Total Construction costs totaled 12,767 DKK - including furniture.
The church was built on land donated by the farmer Jens Andreas Olsen. Waldemar Schmidt, Copenhagen, was the architect. The church is built of hand-molded brick.
