The following Virtual Cache is located in the National Zoo. The Grounds are open every day but Christmas. In the Summer, the Grounds are open from 8 AM to 7 PM, and in the the Winter from 8 AM till 5 PM.
This Virtual does not require going into any of the various buildings. You will find the specific location close to the Think Tank Building. Also, please note that I've given the terrain a 1.5 rating instead of a 1 for this Virtual just because it's a little hilly at spots in the Zoo, but most folks (kids included) should have no issue here.
My favorite animal has and always will be the Chimpanzee. I mean, who doesn't like Chimps, right? Nothing better than a good chimp birthday card! Am I right or am I right? And who doesn't love taking a goofy selfie with a statue? Am I right or am I right? Combine these things together and you have this Virtual!
The Virtual is located at a group of seven life-size bronze sculpted chimpanzees. Each of the chimps bring a unique social aspect to the group. For example, one of the sculptures represents the Alpha Male, a powerful and dynamic leader. Another represents the Explorer, a bold adult on the verge of discovery, and so on. There is a sign onsite which identifies which chimp is which, and that will invite you to join the group. And, yep, that's what you're gonna need to do. Join the group! The exact requirements to log a find here are listed below. If your log fails to meet the requirements, it will eventually be deleted.
REQUIREMENTS TO LOG THE FIND
1. You MUST take a selfie or have someone take a picture of you with one of the chimp statues. You MUST include the photo with your log. You are not required to show your face in the picture if you don't want to. Which statue you choose is up to you, although might I recommend perhaps the one you think best represents you? The observer? The leader? The explorer? Feel free to be as creative as you want.
2. IN ADDITION to the photo, to get credit for the find, you MUST identity in your log the specific type of chimp you posed with for your photo. So, for example, if you posed with the Alpha Chimp, just be CERTAIN to mention that somewhere in your log. Simple enough, right? Indeed, just do these two things and presto, you've got yourself a find!
