"A Viagem da Camélia" é um mural de azulejos criado pelo pintor japonês Jun Shirasu, de cerca de 1 metro de altura por 20 metros de comprimento. O pintor passou três meses numa residência artística da Oficina Ratton, na Arrábida, a criá-lo. Este painel mostra, numa narrativa visual, como essa planta veio do Japão para Portugal e, também, a história cruzada dos dois países nos séculos XVI e XVII.
Nesta altura houve grandes relações comerciais entre os dois países através dos navegadores que por aquela zona andavam. A presença das camélias em Portugal é um dos sinais desses tempos, assim como algumas palavras japonesas que têm origem portuguesa, como são os exemplos que se seguem.

Esta praça inaugurada a 23 de junho de 2018, proporciona ainda uma vista magnífica da cidade do Porto, como se pode ver na fotografia abaixo.

"A Viagem da Camélia" is a tile mural created by the Japanese painter Jun Shirasu, which is about 1 meter tall and 20 meters wide. The painter spent 3 months in an artistic residence of the Oficina Ratton, in Arrábida, creating it. This panel shows in a visual narrative, how this plant (the camellia) came from Japan to Portugal and, also, the crossed history of both countries in the centuries XVI and XVII.
At this time there were several trading relationships between the two countries through the navigators that were in that area. The presence of the camellias in Portugal is one of those signs, as it is some Japanese words which have portuguese origin, as the following examples show:

This square was inaugurated on the 23rd of June 2018, and has an astonishing view of the Porto city as you can see in the picture below.
