Caching By The Dozen Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

day1976: Without the support of the local reviewer or Geocaching HQ, I feel there is no point in owning hides anymore. I therefore am slowly archiving all my hides. Time for this one to go. Its been fun reading the logs.

Geocache Description:

Caching with friends is always a lot of fun. The more the merrier, usually. This cache is designed to bring you and your mates together for a bit of fun and cache finding.

About this cache:

Something a little different - this cache is a 'mob' cache. You will need a smartphone with location capabilities and web browsing capabilities. Make sure your Location Services are enabled for your web browser on your phone. You will also need 11 friends with the same equipment. Assemble yourself and your 11 friends at the given co-ordinates, follow the instructions below and you should be on your way to finding a geocache!

Lack the necessary numbers or equipment in your caching group? Feel free to tag along with another group, or even enlist your non-caching friends? Why not post a note to this page indicating you'd like to form or team up with a group, and organise something offline between yourselves?

Instructions:

Once you have twelve phones ready to go, you will all need to meet up at the published co-ords, and carry out the below instructions on all phones:

  • Navigate to http://chilehead.us/mob/ on your browser.
  • Verify that the accuracy displayed is reasonable (hopefully less than 40 feet or so.)
  • When asked which mob you're attending, enter 1465.
  • On the next screen, the system will tell you how many out of twelve phones have connected.
  • To connect, a phone will need to be within 66 feet (20 meters) of the given starting co-ordinates of this cache.
  • Once that counter is up to twelve connected devices, the app will display the final co-ordinates for this cache.
  • The revealed information will need to be written down, or photographed, or memorized within your photographic memory. Record this information right away! If people leave the mob area, the page you are looking at will disappear and no longer show you the needed coordinates for the geocache. (It takes a minute.)
  • Program your GPS or your smartphone to find the final location, as the website you are using will not navigate you to the cache location. The cache is around 5-10 minutes' walk away..

Other stuff:

The cache is in a safe location to retrieve and replace, but please keep an eye on children and geodogs.

Please replace the cache as found, and refer to the hint if you're not sure. I've made it as specific as can be.

A NOTE ABOUT MUGGLES
Please make an educated decision about the level of muggle activity when you arrive at GZ, and if you find it's just too muggly, we'd suggest you return another time - we'd rather you protected the cache. That said, the cache has been placed delibarately such that you can retrieve and replace it discreetly.
