Geocache Description:

Fictional detectives can generally be placed into one of four types:

  • The amateur detective (e.g. Miss Marple)
  • The private investigator (e.g. Marlowe)
  • The police detective (e.g. Morse)
  • The forensic specialist (e.g. Quincy)

The first famous fictional detective was C. Auguste Dupin created by Edgar Allan Poe in 1841.

This cache is part of the Fictional Detective series which follows footpaths and the canal towpath between Debdale, Foxton, Gumley and Laughton.

Parking is available in Gumley or Foxton, Charged parking is also available at Foxton Locks.
The loop is approximately 6 miles long and is best attempted in a clockwise direction. The caches are a variety of types and sizes; many of the containers are home made from recycled objects. You will need tweezers for some of them and BYOP.

At the time of placing, in February, the footpaths were mostly firm and there were no livestock in any of the fields.

This cache is a film pot micro container.
