A micro-cache marking an entrance to the Coyote Creek Trail and a back entrance to the Coyote Creek Golf Club
This is a lesser-known entrance to the Coyote Creek Trail. This cache marks the point where the Coyote Creek Trail crosses Riverside Drive. Riverside Drive goes from Monterey Highway into the back side of the Coyote Creek Golf Club. This is a back road and service road now, but this was once the main entrance to the old Riverside Golf Course, which has been expanded into the new Coyote Creek Golf Club. The golf club now has its own off-ramp from Hwy 101, which is its main entrance. There aren't any parking lots along the road, but there are places to park. Watch out for "no parking" signs. There are parking lots in the golf course, but not near the cache.
You can take Riverside Drive into the golf course and follow the golf course road to reach "101 Excursion: Nicklaus Signature" (GCPNQR), which is 0.69 miles away. This is also a shortcut to escape from 101 to Monterey Hwy in case 101 is blocked.
About 0.12 miles north of here, on the Coyote Creek Trail, is a nice, shady rest area with picnic tables (with steel braces) and trees with big hollows in them. (Hint, hint.)
This is a sign-only cache. Bring your own pen.

Update 8/08:
I tried driving through the golf course. The back gate was locked. I don't know if that's permananent, but don't rely on this route as a drive-through. However, you can get around the gate on foot or by bike.
Update 6/16/14:
The old container died, so I replaced it with a new one of a different construction. It has a small pencil in it.
