Geocache Description:

In memory of the 1950 flood - this spot marks the high water level at the UofM.

The 1950 flood devastated the campus,much of Winnipeg, and southern Manitoba. For 29 days (May 5 to June 8) water covered 1100 acres of university property, leaving only a 1/4 acre visible. UofM archives indicate that the water level reached 22 inches (0.56m) deep on the road in front of the current administration building – roughly 233.6 m above sea level.

Manitoba Flood, Spring 1950

This cache was created to add to the number of QUALITY caches hidden in Manitoba. It is an official cache in the MBGA Cache Splash event.
Category 6: 'Splash' themed cache.

This cache was hidden by a group of new cachers taking a geocaching workshop. Splash theme was picked because of the flood assocaition

NOTE: The University of Manitoba keeps an apiary(honey bees)next to this site. If you have concerns about honey bees then you might want to avoid this cache.
