The 1950 flood devastated the campus, much of Winnipeg, and
southern Manitoba. For 29 days (May 5 to June 8) water covered 1100
acres of university property, leaving only a 1/4 acre visible. UofM
archives indicate that the water level reached 22 inches (0.56m)
deep on the road in front of the current administration building –
roughly 233.6 m above sea level.
Teir Building is in the background (UofM archives).
