BNC - Brute Force Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

HoustonControl: Archival of several of the caches in the park make this one next to impossible to solve now. I'm 99% sure the original container is gone or buried and unfindable. I'm adopting most of the caches in the park over to Baytown Nature and didn't want to saddle Chrissy with this one. Thanks to all who visited. This cache was located on the little island that's about 950' west of Brownwood Pavilion.

Geocache Description:

This cache is located in the Baytown Nature Center, the entrance of which is located at N29 45.293 W95 02.142. There is an entrance fee of $4 for adults 13 and older. Children 5-12 and Seniors are $1. Gates open 30 minutes before sunrise and close 30 minutes after sunset. Sorry, but pets are not allowed in the nature center, even on leash.

The Baytown Nature center is located in the old Brownwood subdivision. Once an upscale neighborhood with great views of the surrounding bays, most of the area has sunk to sea level or below due to subsidence from groundwater pumping. After repeated floodings in the 1970's, the neighborhood was finished off by Hurricane Alicia in 1983. The remaining homeowners were bought out by FEMA and the City of Baytown and the area was eventually converted into a nature center and wetlands. A site on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail, the Nature Center is home to over 300 species of resident and migratory birds. This site is primarily land-based but there there are some water-based areas around the marshes and along the bays. Some of the old neighborhood streets are still there, though many of them are closed to vehicular traffic. You can still see a few foundations and other evidence of the homes that were once here. Read more about the history of the area here.

Cache is not located at the listed coordinates! (and there is no reason to go there)

This cache is not located within the 528' radius of any cache in the nature center. This includes current caches, archived caches (whether I owned them or not), listed coordinates of letterbox caches, Wherigo caches, or puzzle caches (including this one). It is not within 528' of the listed coordinates or any of the listed stops for the Submarine Acres Earthcache. In addition, it is not within 1000 feet of BNC - For the Birds (GCZ8FQ). Sorry, that's all you're getting!

FTF get's a shiny new geocoin! There isn't one in the cache, but describe what you DO find in the cache and I'll send you a coin. You are looking for an un-camo'd Decon container, hanging in plain sight from what's left of the trunk of a large tree, about 6' off of the ground. Good luck!
