Geocache Description:

This puzzle series was inspired by ePeterso2’s series “Puzzle Solving 101”. Even though the traditional method of learning is the best, there is always something to be said about taking shortcuts. This series should be a sort of “Cliff Notes” for those that would like to get some of the pesky “?”s on their solved list. Follow along and make sure you keep the final coordinates for each one of these puzzles because they will help you to solve the final puzzle.

Many puzzles come with sets of numbers. These numbers can come in many forms. Always start with the basics (add, subtract, multiply, and divide). Below is an example of math basics:

27-25-28-19

Rather than subtracting, adding, multiplying, or dividing one must only find the difference between the numbers. The answer to the puzzle is 239.

Other puzzles that use numbers are a phone pad, a pattern or hexadecimal.

A phone pad cipher might start with letters and have to be transferred to numbers, such as: ADW = 239. There is no math involved but always good to know another number.

A pattern could be a set of numbers on a calculator, such as: 7896123 789656321 9856963 = 239. To solve this one would use a calculator and track the numbers around, this track pattern creates it’s own number.

A hexadecimal cipher is a set of numbers that could either spell out the word, or may simply be the numbers required for the coordinates. The cipher would look like this: 32 33 39. To solve this one needs to find a hexadecimal chart online, this can be done easily by Googling hexadecimal.
