Ammo can hidden next to road on a high ridge when snow is gone.
This is our first time hiding a cache and we wanted to bring people to this great view. The drive is a paved forest service road, on a lateral moraine left by glaciers about 11,000 years ago. Road is narrow so don't drive fast.
At the cache location, the view to the south is of Meyers and Christmas Valley and the view to the west is towards Desolation Wilderness and Mt. Tallac. The cache has items for both kids and adults but watch out that kids don't go over the steep sides.
Afterwards, continue driving for less than a mile to a parking lot. From there you can hike one-third mile to two, small, beautiful lakes, with the latter lake having a beach for swimming.
