Geocache Description:


De Oosterpoort in 1875De Oosterpoort is een wijk in het zuidoosten van de stad Groningen, genoemd naar de voormalige stadspoort, de Oosterpoort.

De wijk is onder andere bekend om cultuurcentrum "De Oosterpoort" waar veel grote evenementen gehouden worden, zoals bijvoorbeeld muziekfestival Noorderslag, waar de grote popprijs van Nederland wordt uitgereikt. Ook ligt binnen de wijk het Zuiderpark, een beschermd stadsgezicht, waar veel prachtige panden te bewonderen zijn.

De cache is verstopt vlakbij een van de buurtkroegen van deze wijk, de Kroeg van Klaas, een cafe dat als poppodium een klein broertje is van de nabijgelegen Oosterpoort.


The Oosterpoort (East gate) is a residential area in the south east of the city of Groningen, named after the former city gate.

The district is known for cultural center "De Oosterpoort" where many large events take place, like music festival Noorderslag, where the "grote popprijs" (major pop music award) of The Netherlands is handed out. Within the area you can also find the Zuiderpark (South park), a protected cityscape where you can admire many beautiful buildings.

The cache is hidden near one of the neighborhood pubs of this district, the Kroeg van Klaas (Pub of Klaas). A cafe that, as a music podium, can be seen as the little brother of the nearby Oosterpoort.
