Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Fredericton Geocaching Tour!

This cache is part of the Fredericton Geocaching Tour. You are looking for a small container. In it is a message from the City of Fredericton, a log book, a pencil, and a symbol (for your passport). Download the passport HERE to track your progress on this series.

There are also rewards to earn on your progress with this series! After completing 10 caches, you will earn a wooden nickel. After you've found 20 caches, you will also be awarded with a pathtag. If you manage to find all 30 caches, you will receive a limited edition locally produced trackable pewter geocoin! (first come / first served for all rewards) to track your progress on this series.

This series is constantly evolving. If there is ever a cache disabled or archived, you can still claim the geocoin for finding the remaining caches. There are currently 28 active caches.

Bienvenue à le Visite de Fredericton Géocachatte!

Cette cache fait partie de la visite de Fredericton par géocache (chasse au trésor GPS). Vous devez chercher un petit contenant. Vous y trouverez un message de la Ville de Fredericton, un carnet de route, un crayon et un autocollant (pour votre passeport). Vos progrès dans la série peuvent aussi vous valoir des récompenses! Quand vous aurez trouvé 10 caches, vous mériterez une géopièce de 5 ¢ en bois. Quand vous en aurez 20, vous recevrez une petite plaque métallique. Si vous trouvez les 30 caches, vous obtenez une géopièce détectable en étain, produite localement en édition limitée! (Pour toutes les récompenses, le principe du premier arrivé, premier servi s’applique.)

Cette serie évolue continuellement. Si un geocache devient desactivé ou archivé, vous pourrez quand même reclamer les "geocoins" après avoir trouvé les caches qui restent. Il y a 28 geocaches actifs en ce temps.

Nashwaak Stream Nature Park

Located along the St. John River on the City’s north side between Johnston Avenue and Cityview Avenue is a 25 ha Parkland that’s home to a unique ecosystem. In 2004, a partnership project was embarked upon to protect and enhance the wetlands of this parkland. The Nashwaaksis Stream Nature Park officially opened for everyone to enjoy in November of 2007.

The Nashwaaksis Stream Nature Park is a habitat for many waterfowl, wildlife, flora and fauna and many wetland plants. There are two classes of wetlands here, Emergent Wetlands and Forested Wetlands but all the plants found here are specially adapted to withstand the stressful conditions of wetlands.

Parc naturel du ruisseau Nashwaaksis

Le long du fleuve Saint-Jean, sur la rive nord, entre les avenues Johnston et Cityview, un parc de 25 ha accueille un écosystème unique. En 2004, un projet de partenariat est lancé pour protéger et valoriser les zones humides de cet endroit. En novembre 2007, le parc naturel du ruisseau Nashwaaksis ouvre officiellement au public.

Ce parc constitue un habitat pour un grand nombre d'oiseaux aquatiques, d'espèces sauvages animales et végétales et de plantes des milieux humides. Il contient deux classes de terres humides, émergentes et boisées, mais toutes les plantes qui y poussent se sont spécifiquement adaptées pour résister aux conditions stressantes des zones humides.
