Number 2 of my “Giant” themed caches.
The cache is in extremely close proximity to the Piopio Village Green. There is ample parking. The cache area not only is frequented by muggles but is also in view of the police station.
The small cache is oblong and contains logbook and pencil with only limited space for treasures. Upper body agility may be required to access cache. Once found please use extreme stealth to avoid being seen retrieving and returning cache to its nest.
During the 1990’s economic cutbacks and so called rationalisations lead to closures of many amenities or services in small rural towns/villages. Piopio was not unscathed but a strong community organisation endeavoured to counter these cutbacks with several plans to make the village more attractive. The giant easels, with their paintings by a local artist, was one of many initiatives to add interest to the village.
Sit back to the right of the cow painting and you can see some of the responses to the loss of 2 bank branches, a Post office, a training institution, a power depot, a chemist and a garage. These vacated premises being replaced with a Vet clinic, gift shop, plus a very popular cafeteria.
