This is an offset cache that will begin at the famous Dr. Sun Yat Sen memorial hall in Taipei. This is one of my favorite places to visit to learn about the interesting history of Taiwan and to watch all the people dancing and playing on weekends.
You will start here to get clues that will allow you to calculate the coordinates of the cache.
You will need to solve 3 puzzles and do some simple arithmetic to get the final coordinates.
1st: Count the number of round columns or pillars that surround the hall. Write down the number
2nd: Go to these coordinates near the hall: N 25' 02.405 E 121' 33.556. There are a number of interesting objects all on the back wall here. Count them and write down the number.
3rd: Go to these coordinates near the hall (same as the .loc,.gpx file): N 25' 02.449 E 121' 33.596. There is a round, blue object nearby with a single letter on it. Using this encryption: A=1,B=2,C=3,D=4….etc, write down the number that is associated with the letter on the object.
Now here is the fun part to get the coordinates to the cache:
(number of columns) X (number of objects on wall) + 346 = XXXX
(number associated with letter on the object) X 2 + 3 = YY
Insert your answers into these coordinates to get to the cache:
N 25' 0X.XXX
E 121' YY.008
Simple, right!? The cache is about 1 hours walk away. Shorter if you drive to the trail head. Have fun.
