Better than a fair view.
Travelling by boat all those years ago the south west coast was usually the first view of land for sailors and mariners, and probably even pirates. It's steep cliffs, ferocious ocean, have shaped this landscape. Rugged, but beautiful. Tranquil at times, unsafe and dangerous at others, the seas around here has been cause for many a wreck.
In April 1874 lights were switched on at the house - and this then became the first lighthouse in the British Isles to be built of concrete. 102 years later in 1976 the lighthouse became fully automated.
Not suitable for very young children.
